PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
January, 2008
SAVE THOSE DATES! Jim Langfelder, your 1st Vice President, is already working to organize next year’s Annual Conference. Make sure, as you plan 2008, to save June 29 to – July 1st for the Annual Conference that will offer more training that is so crucial in today’s ever-changing environment. The Conference will be held at the Clock Tower Resort in Rockford, IL. The resort offers great facilities and a host of activities for your guests. There is an indoor water park, fine restaurants and lots of on-site activities. Plus, there are excellent golf courses and other amenities in the immediate vicinity as well. Rock Cut State Park, second only to Starved Rock State Park in popularity, is minutes away from the Clock Tower and features a 165 acre lake in the middle of a beautiful forested area that offers fishing and canoeing - great family activities. Plan to attend what will surely be an excellent Conference.
Consider also attending the APT’s Annual Conference that will be held August 9-13, 2008, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. That location is close enough for many of us to drive. Outstanding seminars are provided; and, networking is possible with literally hundreds of colleagues from the entire country. So, give serious consideration to attending this national conference that keeps getting better and better. Just go to “Helpful Links” to check out the conference.
Again, I encourage each of you to take full advantage of your IMTA membership by getting involved. Consider organizing a Regional Meeting to gain knowledge on subjects of particular interest to you. Through a Regional session, you can offer a learning opportunity to fellow members in your area that may not be able to travel overnight. Your Board has three Regional Committee Chairs to help guide you through the process. Regional Meetings are good ways to spread the benefits of membership in the IMTA. Of course, you can use the meeting as a way to recruit new members to the organization.
And, again, I encourage you to take a few minutes to contact your neighbors who are not members of the IMTA. Tell them how you have benefited and offer them the opportunity to join us. Make them aware of the many fine educational and networking opportunities that we offer. Get out the word! Call a neighboring Treasurer or Finance Director and introduce them to IMTA. Remember - If you’d like us to contact a potential member in your area, Reggie Willis and Scott Borror, Co-Chairs of the Membership Committee, are eager to assist you. Or, call or e-mail me or any of your Directors; and, we’ll make the invitation.
I look forward to 2008 and toward continuing our efforts to make IMTA an asset to you and the entire membership. HAVE A GREAT 2008!
Respectfully,
Bob Mullins
President 2006/07, 2007/08
