CREDIT/ DEBIT CARD PROCESSORS

I have been following some of the requests made by association members and wondered if you or anyone might have any suggestions or preferences

as to selection of a credit/debit card processor. I know Illinois Funds has a program but I know there are other vendors that are available.

Thanks for any input.

GAS FRANCHISE W/ AMEREN

Is or has anyone recently negotiated or is negotiating a Gas Franchise Renewal with Ameren? The Village of Mt. Zion is currently trying to negotiate the terms of a new franchise and need to find out if Ameren or other gas companies are all operating on the money reimbursement instead of the therms reimbursement. Any insight would be appreciated.

CREDIT MONITORING

Do you actively use Dun & Bradsteet for credit monitoring? I got a call from them yesterday informing me the City's credit score had slipped over the past few months. I told them I didn't care, which surprised them. I don't care, but wonder in what instance one would, really. From what I understand this is a credit evaluation service more geared toward small biz than local gov?

About Credit Monitoring....Dun and Brad is using this same routine on other municipalities - to sell their product. They called me and I had the same answer as Eric (didn't give a rat's ---). Forget this. It's useless for local government.

Reponse to Warrenville,

Sometimes banks and/or bond holders may be interested in D&Bs rating of your government. If you have outstanding debt or plan to issue some, or borrow you might want to ask who you would borrow from if D&Bs rating is important to them. Of course, you could find out WHY they dropped your rating and see if it is relevant to your government. You might even uncover an error in their process! These guys aren't infallible.
