ABOUT US

The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association was established to promote the general and professional interests of the municipal treasurers in their respective communities, to obtain a higher standard of efficiency, to improve service with allied institutions and to inspire friendly and fraternal relationships amongst its members. Today IMTA has over 300 members representing communities from all over the state of Illinois.

MISSION

The Illinois Municipal Treasurer's Association, a statewide organization consisting of municipal treasurers, finance officers, and other finance professionals, provides educational, professional and social development opportunities for those involved in municipal finance.

The Association establishes the following goals to meet the needs of its membership and the communities they serve:

  • Prepare members to meet the ever increasing and complex demands and fiscal responsibilities of their position by providing educational opportunities and information.
  • Promote professional conduct and integrity within the field of municipal finance.
  • Support efforts to convey to the public the importance of professionalism and competency in the position of treasurer/finance officer in units of local government.
  • Promote professional and social interaction among members as well as other financial communities.
  • Utilize and encourage the use of resources and technologies to further enhance the professionalism of our members and for the professional development opportunities they provide to our members.
  • Support building partnerships and relationships with allied organizations through joint presentations and other affiliations.

The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association recognizes the diversity of its membership and is committed to providing opportunities for educational, professional, and social advancement for all its members.

INSTITUTE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association has authorized financial assistance for those candidates who desire to attend any phase of the Illinois Municipal Treasurers Institute and are presently unable to attend due to financial reasons. This assistance is to be used to offset the Registration fees. Recipients will be notified by October 15, 2010. Applications are due to be submitted no later than October 1, 2010.
